Last night, I revealed to you that The Yankee has a new love.
And I thought you might just be interested in a few
of the nitty-gritty details.
But...
in order to fully understand how this pair came to be,
you'll have to travel back in time with me—
to the beginning of this little tale.
Some time ago, darling daughter called to inform me that she had a very special
surprise for me. Knowing that I had wanted a Yorkshire Terrier
since my high school days, she had eagerly accepted the offer to adopt the
six-year-old little ball of fur shown above...
just for me.
However, as it happened, the week that she made this commitment was the
very week I had committed to keep my then-two-year-old granddaughter—
her daughter—for five days.
Needless to say, a frightened little pooch being thrust into a strange environment,
coupled with the boundless energy of a rambunctious two-year-old,
is anything but an ideal situation.
There was only one solution!
I spent five days keeping precious granddaughter
occupied, while The Yankee spent that entire time pretty much holding
and consoling the pitiful three and a half pound pooch.
So...
who do you think my dog bonded with?
From that point on, the two of them have been inseparable.
Whether it's hiking around the woods of our farm, napping on the sofa,
or snacking in the kitchen...
where you find one, you are sure to spot the other.
And where does that leave me?
Replaced...
by the most adorable, teeny, toy Yorkie!
Meet Mozart—my competition! ; )
Personally, I wouldn't mind this kind of absolutely adorable competition. He is so cute! Mozart was the name of my most beloved persian cat, so maybe I am a little prejudice. I don't think I have ever seen such a wonderful little Yorkie. Lucky, lucky you...and the Yankee of course.
ReplyDeleteMozart is absolutely darling. And came with outfits, so clearly on the right path!
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness!!!! We are LAUGHING!!! I just read this to my husband and we got the BIGGEST kick out of this... TOO FUNNY!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteMercy what sweetness!!! I had a 3 lb. Yorkie for 13 precious years....I miss her still today. I was heart broken when we lost her and never had another....now 3 dachshunds...but oh. This. Post. Sure made my heart twinge just a bit!! Something awful precious as a sweet little pup with a big strong man....I love it!!
ReplyDeleteperfectly adorable! my daughter has had 2 of them, unfortunately sad things happened to both :((( so now we tried a pony :) she loves it too, but still thinks of 'Prince' and 'Sophie'and misses them.
ReplyDeleteAnd such a sporty dog decked out in the hunting camo vest!
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog and saw two things: You have a Yorkie and live in NC---me, too. Going to go read your blog.

How funny, Liz, I had wanted a Yorkie ever since I was a teen, too! At 16 I got a rescued Pocket Poodle; I loved her so much. Still waiting on that Yorkie! : ) Mozart is just adorable and it's obvious the camera loves him. Maybe you need a second one . . .
ReplyDeleteLove his story and love his name!
ReplyDeleteOH, NO!!!!! Just when you had your hands on a Yorkie.....almost!

ReplyDeleteGreat post! I just got a little Chihuahua (you can see him on my blog) and everyone here adores him, including hubby!
ReplyDeleteI feel your pain. We adopted a Yorkie last year, for me. She had been abused and the lady told us that she was very frightened of men. Boy, was she wrong! She loves my husband! I think we both need to get ourselves another Yorkie just for us!
ReplyDeleteOh--so darn cute! Adorable pics of your family; cannot help but smile at that camouflauge-duo of your sweethearts!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet!!!! Love your clear, sharp photos too. :) I can see why you feel replaced. lol.

Mozart is the cutest little bundle. It's so precious that he really bonded with the Yankee. We have a 14 year old Silky Terrior. He's always preferred females...won't leave my side during the day. They sure are sweet!
ReplyDeleteThat's precious! I'm so sorry you missed your own puppy! But, the photos are priceless . . . very neat! Enjoyed reading and seeing! :) Jenn
ReplyDeleteThat little pooch is way too cute
ReplyDeleteOK, I stopped by to see your other stuff, but here I am replying on the post about a boy and his dog (if you can call a man a boy and a couple pound hound a dog huh?) Too darn cute riding around in Yankee's hood. My daughter and I share a dog for the very same reason, she's gone at college and the dog SHE wanted became my baby! Whose your mama little doggie?
