The Yankee and I found this fabulous retro Danish Modern chair at a thrift store this week!
She had great form and was in terrific condition. At $3.99, she was a bargain we could not pass up!
We knew we wanted to give her a twenty-first century punch, so the pale green fabric had to go...
and the purple, and the mulitcolored, and the tan.
Yep! This Danish doll had worn four different cushion covers in her day, but none were to our liking.
A light sanding on the frame was all that was necessary to ready this beauty for her time travel transformation.
Krylon paint is one of my favorite brands. It produces a beautifully smooth finish–if you've done your prep work–and is quite durable.
This Ivy Leaf green was my choice for brightening up that Danish beauty.
POP! I bet I have your attention now!
This totally cool, vintage fabric curtain panel was another thrift store score from a few years ago. It has been tucked away in my stash of vintage fabrics just waiting for its debut.
No need to sing the "boring" blues here anymore!
This Danish delight has gone from drab to fab in our retro recyle!
We took her into the future...
and back in time.

ReplyDeleteDo you ever have problems with Krylon spray paint "spitting" the paint out? I have some really pretty blue, and the can is almost full, but all it does is spit.
Wow! What a difference a little paint and new fabric can make!

In all honesty, my heart sank a bit when I saw the can of spray paint. But then it came back when I saw the new fabric, and I have to say the final look is great!
ReplyDeleteThe link title grabbed my attention, but the chair grabbed my heart! I love it! Krylon is a great paint, I use it TOO much, and Ivy Leaf is one of my favorite colors, although I wish they would come out with a few more greens...Love it with the fabric! Bravo to a job well done!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful transformation! However not a big fan of painting that wood because it looked in such a nice condition and it's probably teak. I think it lost some nice details with the paint but it still looks fab totally redone. Afterall it is your chair...lol

ReplyDeleteI love Danish modern furniture! Your chair was a great find. I love the fabric you used to recover the seat, but I wouldn't have painted the frame because I like wood just looking like wood.

Love this, it's breath-taking in a good way ;) First of all, that chair rocks. Secondly, the curtain panel is perfect for Danish Modern and thirdly, I've had Krylon Ivy Leaf on my shopping list for too darn long - gotta get some soon! It's beautiful. Visiting from Met Monday~
