travel back in time with me to last week, and take a peek at some of the wonderful

things shared by a few of our talented time travelers.

out there who wouldn't want to be pampered by such a pretty presentation?

Cindy @ Beaux R'eves not only styled this lovely vignette, she dolled

up a plain-jane tray especially for such occasions.

I always enjoy home tours, don't you? This is an area of a home office

and craft room shared at last week's party by Smallgood Hearth.

Besides being a bit partial to the image of my home state on her wall,

it was fun to see some of the other decorating elements in

this room—a croquet mallet wall hanger and a moose named Morty, to name a few. ; )

Rainy Days and Mondays ALWAYS Get Me Down

Well...

that's not totally accurate. It's more like, rainy days that seem to have no end

AND frigid winter temps that force me to stay inside

make me...

Let's just say, winter and cold weather DO NOT agree with me at all.

But then, that's a little tidbit I shared with you...

right from the start.

And I also happen to be someone who likes color—something greatly

lacking during these dismal winter days.

It's no accident that I still have a fall banner at the top of my blog. It makes me

smile to see all those warm, sunny colors up there.

Alas, the trees have all shed their gorgeous autumnal apparel

and have left an ocean of brown, crackly leaves upon the forest floor.

The raindrops hang from their now-bare branches...

like glistening miniature ornaments.

It has been raining here for days, and, at times, the fog has settled so

densely upon the surrounding hills...

that they take on the appearance of an Impressionist painting—

though lacking the color

The landscape that only a short while ago teemed with abundant plant life

now feels lifeless and dull.

Even the field grasses, which during fall were a delightful, golden hue,

have grown pale in this intense cold.

As I walked around the farm—in my wellies and layered

clothing—I was struck with just how quickly the color

has seemed to drain from my surroundings.

Another good reason to just stay indoors

and hibernate for a few more weeks, I thought...

until I caught a glimpse of this sight!

The daffodils are suddenly beginning to spring up beneath the trees—

their beautiful green leaves dotting the landscape with life...

AND color.

That's one of the reasons that daffodils are my very favorite flower.

At the point when the earth seems so gloomy and barren, these

little bursts of sunshine shoot up...

displaying their golden splendor.

In a few days, I'll be able to venture outside and pluck a handful

of these beauties to brighten up the inside of the cottage.

Hooray!

Just what I need to cheer me up on a rainy Monday! ; )

I love rust—well, if it's decorative rust we're talkin' about, of course!

With a lot of imagination and a little patience, John @ The Frugal Tree

was able to spring into action making this

rusty relic into a decorative delight.

Heidi @ the mindful nest shared a number of beautiful images

she's using for inspiration to create a relaxing retreat

for her master suite.

And she has chosen the gorgeous colors

of her bridal bouquet as a decorative springboard.

Isn't this skirted ottoman/coffee table fabulous?!

It was just one of the many treasures that tickled my fancy

when I visited Betsy @ Betsy Speert's Blog.

You already know how much I love ironstone. Needless to say,

I was quite excited with this pretty project shared

by Mitzi @ Mitzi's Miscellany.

I have an assortment of ironstone platters on hand, and I even

have some brass stencils. And now, thanks to Mitzi,

I'll be adding typography to a few.

How do you remedy a cramped kitchen with too

little counter space...

with a magical makeover, of course!

Raquel @ Raquel English transformed an old dresser

into a much needed island.

Way to go, Raquel—function AND good looks. ; )

Meet the Competition

Last night, I revealed to you that the Yankee has a new love.

And I thought you might just be interested in a few

of the nitty-gritty details.

But...

in order to fully understand how this pair came to be,

you'll have to travel back in time with me—to the beginning of this little tale.

Some time ago, darling daughter called to inform me that she had a very special

surprise for me. Knowing that I had wanted a Yorkshire Terrier

since my high school days, she had eagerly accepted the offer to adopt the

six-year-old little ball of fur shown above...just for me.

However, as it happened, the week that she made this commitment was the

very week I had committed to keep my then-two-year-old granddaughter—

her daughter—for five days.

Needless to say, a frightened little pooch being thrust into a strange environment,

coupled with the boundless energy of a rambunctious two-year-old,

is anything but an ideal situation.

There was only one solution!

I spent five days keeping precious granddaughter

occupied, while the Yankee spent that entire time pretty much holding

and consoling the pitiful three and a half pound pooch.

So...

who do you think my dog bonded with?

From that point on, the two of them have been inseparable.

Whether it's hiking around the woods of our farm, napping on the sofa,

or snacking in the kitchen...

where you find one, you are sure to spot the other.

And where does that leave me?

Replaced...

by the most adorable, teeny, toy Yorkie!

There is absolutely no denying it.

The Yankee has a new love!

After all these years...

I now have some real competition for his affections!

He tells me there is nothing to be concerned about...

and that I will always be number one in his life.

But I see the look of mutual adoration in their eyes!

It appears I might just have to learn how to play second fiddle.

I guess it's a good thing I'm musically inclined! ; )

From perusing her blog, it appears that Holly and I have very similar tastes.

Her master bedroom makeover really got my attention—well, that and

the fabulous old door that leads to her basement.

The vintage, green headboard that Tammi @ Eleventh House used to create

this sweet shabby bench was a fortuitous find from her local thrift store.

As a matter of fact, Tammi's entire cottage is filled with such wonderful

thrifted things. You really should go take a peek!

This cute coffee table—created by Deidre @ Simply Simplisticated—sang an

entirely different tune in its former life as a beaten up old trunk.

Deidre graciously shared her step-by-step process of transforming

this ugly duckling to a lovely swan.

Living on the Edge

WELL-HOUSE THROUGH THE SEASONS

I've mentioned to you several times that I live on the

edge of a national forest...way out in the country.

Recently, I came across some pictures

from when we bought our little farm six years ago.

They might just give you a better understanding of how far out

in the country we really are.

I've detailed where things are located, to help put areas

of the farm—shown in earlier posts—in their proper perspective.

The image above is an aerial view shot while flying

from the back of the property toward the front.

And this is a shot from front to back.

We dismantled a hundred-year-old barn from a

neighboring farm and reconstructed another barn and

chicken coop from the old wood—as indicated.

So...

does this help put things in perspective? ; )

Country With Class

What is it about a new year that stirs up within us a desire for change?

Afterall, change is what New Year's resolutions are all about, right?

There are a number of things I've resolved to alter in my life

during 2012. Some will require a great deal of effort, determination, and prayer

on my part—others, not so much so.

I've decided to start with some of the simpler changes...like a new hairstyle.

The problem is, I just can't seem to lock in to the

direction I want to take.

Thankfully, I won't have to fret over where this transformation will take place.

Though I live in the country, and most of the neighboring towns are rural,

I'm blessed to have a friend—also my hairstylist—who happens to be

the owner of the classiest salon around.

Kim is not only an incredibly talented stylist, she is also very artistic—
as reflected in the tastefully eclectic décor of her salon.

She has masterfully combined a variety of materials

and furnishings to create a chic, upscale vibe.

The salon is housed in a historic building that has donned many masks

over the years—the city jail and a hardware store, to name but a few.

What is now the reception area was once a display window,

during the building's hardware store days.

Kim is not only a fantastic stylist, artist, and decorator, but she's

quite the DIYer to boot!

She and a friend spent a week—with very little rest—

renovating this fabulous old place.

They did everything from demolishing the walls that cloaked the

gorgeous old bricks, to building the trendy stylists' stations.

Did you notice the contrasts of the refined decorative elements set

against the rustic backdrop? Sound familiar? ; )

The faux leather treatment on the wall—above the molding—and the corrugated metal

below are more examples of Kim's handiwork.

AND...there are more unique wall treatments surrounding

the shampoo, manicure, and pedicure stations.

These lights are really a fun touch, don't you think?

Kim calls them her "chicken lights." Indeed, their original purpose was to keep

baby chicks warm. But with the addition of sparkling crystals, they impart

an air of urban farmhouse chic.

And what about this unique bit of illumination hanging in the cantina?

Certainly not something you would expect in a small town.

I think Kim—a fellow farmgirl—has proven with 12 12 Salon

that you can have class...even in the country.

I love to decorate with vintage deer at Christmas—not so much for the

ties to the holiday, but because of the presence of the real deal

around my farm year round.

And I must say, I do love the pose of this one found by

Jane @ Minnesota Junker.

It was the perfect counterpart in the terrific vignette Jane created with

this rusty vintage bowl filled with fantastic old ornaments.

Isn't this a sweet little hot chocolate station?

Well, I promised I would give you a double feature this week, and

I aim to deliver! So let's revisit some of our talented time travelers

from the last two weeks.

Sometimes you have to play around a bit to

get just the look you want from your decorations.

Susan @ Compulsive in Texas had a good thing goin' with her handmade

sign but decided to keep tweaking her mantelscape...until

it was "screaming Christmas"!

Kirsty @ Coral and Coast decorated her lovely holiday table with a

"nod to nautical." Even her dog, Harley, made a contribution—the faux

driftwood in the center—to this pretty tablescape.

When I visited BJ @ Sweet Nothings, I was a bit taken back by her serene

silver and white decorations. Now there wasn't a thing wrong with

them, mind you. They were absolutely gorgeous! But I've come to know BJ

as a "colorful" person—in both her decorating and personality.

True to nature, she didn't disappoint. Further into the post, I

discovered the pretty pops of color I've come to

expect from this sweet—and colorful—lady.

Seeing these festive, frosted Christmas lights made me smile.

Bessyboo @ SISTERKINS shared a terrific tutorial for a

holiday centerpiece using pinecones. And the design possibilities are as

far-reaching as your imagination.

These beautiful cards are the handiwork of Kathi @ South Bay Studio.

It's the night before Thanksgiving, but

it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around Blogland.

Emily @ Bargain Bound has gotten a jolly jumpstart on her

holiday decorating with this fabulous wreath she created.

Abstract art? Not exactly. This pretty project was part of a school

art lesson taught by Jamie @ Jamie's Jumbles. And though we're

just under the wire for the holiday, this fun idea is simple enough to incorporate as part

of your Thanksgiving festivities tomorrow—with the adults, as well as children.

I like simple, fun, and stylish projects. This colorful scarf, created

by Kim @ MADE IN A DAY, fits that bill all the way around!

Inspired by these totally terrific upcycled Lazy Susans

found on Pinterest, The Vintage Chateau decided to give a little

frenchy love to one of her very own.

I love photography—especially nature shots!

When I visited Elaine @ K & E Photography, I was excited to find one

beautiful nature image after another. But, when I got to

this shot, I was a bit perplexed as to what might be

protruding from the fallen log.

When I posed my inquiry to Elaine, I was quite surprised to discover

that it was not what I originally thought it was.

Want to take a guess yourself?

Meet Henry. No, Henry is not the name of the time traveler who linked this

terrific transformation to the party. Henry is the name given

to this piece by Mary @ because I like to decorate.

You'll have to pay Mary a visit to learn her reasoning behind

this particular masculine moniker.

Is there anyone living in your house who suffers from an insatiable

sweet tooth? At the Brambleberry Cottage, that would be my Yankee!

Needless to say, I was thrilled when I read the healthy ingredients list for this

yummy sweet treat presented by Jutta @ organized-living-solutions.

Most of us look for ways to reuse and recycle, as much as possible.

But I must admit, the method of reuse incorporated into the creation

of this lovely ring, by Jörg @ Goldsmiede Jörg Plaar,

was something I had never considered.

Celebrating Six Decades

Someone very special just had a birthday! Well, not just...

Actually, his birthday was one week ago, today. I tried to get him to let me post

about it on his birthday, but he wouldn't hear of it.

He could not imagine that anyone out in Blogland would even care that he was

celebrating his 60th birthday. Besides, he pouted, "I'm looking "really old!" Yeah,

right!!!

Now, tell me the truth. Do you think my Yankee looks 60 years old?

OK, I know we've barely gotten through Halloween, and Thanksgiving is still a few

weeks away. But the ideas shared by Jenny @ Simcoe Street for Christmas

decorations are just too fabulous to pass up.

This lovely ornament is filled—quite literally—with memories

of a very special day in Jenny's life, but you'll have to pay her

a visit to get the details.

One of things that I love about today's decorating style

is that it can be so uniquely personal!

Angie @ Knick of Time is a prime example of someone who

decorates with a unique personal style. Note her entryway—

papered with vintage dictionary pages.

Besides looking fabulous, she now has plenty of reading material

at hand, should she get bored while working at her desk. ; )

Most times, stepping outside our comfort zone makes us rather uneasy.

Though Erin @ salvaged whimsy was a bit unsure about the results

of her shelf makeover, I think she did a fantastic job.

It was an "Aha!" moment that lead Design Fluff to the creation of

this whimsical eye chart apothecary jar.

I see why she loves it, don't you?

Moving can be a very stressful undertaking—keeping everything "show"
ready." But even with her house on the market, Nicole @ Sash to Treasure was not
about to pass up an opportunity to decorate for the season.

I think prospective buyers will find her mantelscape charming,
don't you?

You may be wondering why I'm showcasing ghosts in November.
Elementary, my dear! Laughter is not bound to a specific time of year. And the names
given to these adorable apparitions, by Lesley@ FREAKING CRAFT,
were just too humorous to pass up!

You can find the inspiration for home décor in some of the most unusual places.

Michelle @ A Pinch of Prim shared some of her current Goodwill finds at the party

last week. But when I visited her and caught a glimpse of her adorable

papier mâché creations, I just knew I had to

share them with you!

Discovering new-to-me talent out in

Blogland is one of the fun elements of blogging.

While I thoroughly dislike painting walls and furniture, I've always wanted to learn to

paint artistically. To be able to capture beauty on canvas seems

so rewarding. If you visit FARMHOUSE PORCH you'll be sure to

see a number of pretty pieces by someone who knows

how to work magic with a paint brush.

Do you like quilts? How about stylish art? Want to know how to create

one from the other? Then take a stroll over to The Three Sweet Peas—where

Stacie shared her terrific tutorial for this pretty picture.

Is this not just the cutest bunny? Shari @ Swinging on a Star Creations

drew this adorable pen and ink creature and then further

enhanced it with watercolors. You can find the origins of her

unique frame when you visit her.

I love being able to showcase some of the incredible creativity floating through

the blogosphere? My only regret is that I can't feature

every one of you!

season. I'm sure you've noticed that black and white have been

the prevailing trend over the past few years.

And that trend is a perfect fit for the seasonal décor at White Whimsy.

Michele @ hello lovely inc shared how she has used them

in a number of pretty applications.

In home décor—as with many things—versatility is a big plus.

When creating her new pillows, Ela @ Scrapidoodlelicious employed that logic

when she made these reversible beauties.

The next best thing to working on a repurposing project myself is seeing

something that you—my blogging buddies—have given new life to. The pretty

of Amber @ JUNKAHOLICS UNANIMOUS got

hold of it.

Here's another really cute, really fun, and simple craft project for you.

First...

Do you remember your first DIY project? I sure don't! I've been at it so long,

I can't remember a time when I wasn't DIY-ing! lol

But I can certainly understand the thrill a first-timer—like

Becky @ TREASURES IN THRIFTING LAND—might experience.

I thoroughly enjoy seeing all the pretty jewelry creations out in Blogland.

That's something I hope to spend more time on myself—
in the future.

In the meantime, all I can do is admire the talent of people like
Gayle Page-Robak. She created this lovely watch.

Found Object Art

This is a very common sight around the workshop of The Brambleberry Cottage,

both inside and out.

Though I attempt to keep some semblance of order—organizing our multitudes of

baskets and bins of rusty metal, chippy-paint boards, balusters and spindles, and other

assorted salvage—it does have a tendency to get out of hand

at times...especially when we are in the midst of several

projects, as is currently the case.

And the clutter begins to mount even higher when a project or two gets

stalled because some key component

seems to be missing.

That's exactly what happened with the variety of junk you see in the first image...

that is, until we found the old, beat-up tin full of

vintage porcelain insulators.

Once the insulators were in our possession, the creative mind of the Yankee

started whirling, and a certain prized piece of wood

of mine became a key to one of his latest designs.

I had found this wonderful old porch post at the flea market last year

and had stored it away in the barn for a future project. Its layers of paint had

begun to crackle and chip away, revealing the most fantastic

weathered patina.

I was rather reluctant to relinquish my hold on this treasure...

until the Yankee convinced me that his

project was worthy of its use.

As soon as I consented to letting him have my pretty wood post, he went to work

welding together several salvaged parts from antique

cast iron wood stoves.

A good scrub with a wire brush—to eliminate the loose flakes of rust—and a

few coats of our favorite spray sealant gave the rusty components

a nice rich patina.

While the Yankee was constructing his creations, I searched through a number of

bins in the barn to scout out the perfect pieces

of metal for the bases.

They had to be just the right dimensions and thickness to compliment

the Yankee's pieces.

And this is what I came up with. Aren't they "grate"?! ; )

So my vintage porch post, coupled with a few rusty grater parts, some

old insulators, an old gear or two, and several antique stove parts

became...

"found object" art.

As hard as it was to give up, I think the Yankee put my

wood post to good use! ; )

Signs of the Season

This year, I'm anticipating the arrival of fall more anxiously than in

years past.

Perhaps the many months spent laboring in the

sweltering heat—restoring the gardens and clearing the barns—has

intensified my desire for cooler temperatures.

As a matter of fact, I've been so engrossed in these tasks

that I've almost let the first signs—ones that signal fall is on its way—slip

right past me.

The purple, white, pink, and blue wildflowers that graced our fields, just

a short while ago, have given way to a more autumnal array.

Their bright cheery faces are but one of the many

things that make fall my favorite season.

I'm actually quite nostalgic about this particular time of year. Some of

my most cherished childhood memories revolve around

autumns past.

And...

we celebrate my Yankee sweetheart's birthday each fall...

in addition to our anniversary.

But it's also the colors of the season that make it so appealing to me. The warmth

of the saturated hues wrap around you like a well-worn,

cozy quilt on a crisp, cool evening.

And...

around The Brambleberry Cottage, fall also means

it's apple picking time. ; )

Those juicy, wholesome orbs find their way into pies,

cobblers, and a wide assortment of taste-tempting treats...

and, hopefully, this year, even fresh apple cider.

I'm so looking forward to gathering the benches, chairs, and tables

from the barn, and...

rounding up the extra quilts and pillows for our fall festivities.

It's a time when our family and friends assemble to enjoy

blazing bonfires beneath star-studded skies.

Happily, the signs of the season are upon us...

a season for celebrating a few of life's

simple country pleasures.

store scores into pretty display pieces.

Thinking outside the box can take a project piece from blah to beautiful.

This masterful makeover, by Lisa @ Recaptured Charm,

is a prime example.

Mary @ Redo 101 shared the beauty around here yard, after a recent rain. Those

of us who have had little of the wet stuff this summer can appreciate
a good earth cleansing shower even more.

Sunburst mirrors have been all the rage for awhile now. But what do you

do if you can't find the right mirror for your creation? Just use a

spot of your favorite paint color in the center.

That's exactly what Kelli @ The Turquoise Piano did!

We all love to decorate with "found" nature objects. But Candace
@ Candace Creations took it a step further, when she created these adorable
"branchlers" for her little one's nursery.

Sweet "Tweet" Retreat

The Yankee and I have decided that one of the best ways to declutter

around the farm...is to get busy with the projects that the clutter

was originally intended for.

So, once again this week, we pulled various items from the barn...

and got to work!

Even though my blogging friend, Tammy @ Tattered & Timeless, took a great

deal of stuff like this off my hands, there were still a

handful of pieces tucked away in the barn.

The Yankee selected an old oil can and a rusty funnel—from the stored

stash—for our latest creative project.

I grabbed an assortment of vintage insulators...

and a basket of rusty, crusty bits and bobs—

salvaged from discarded antique trunks.

While the Yankee was welding various rusty, vintage

tractor parts together and deciding where he wanted to use

the old chicken feeder top,

I was gathering the embellishments to add even more

character and charm to our newest creation.

The piece used at the top was, at one time, an edge bracket to an antique

trunk, while the piece in the middle—with the hole—was part

of the trunk's lock.

Can you guess what the black curved piece used to be?

Here's another view. Now can you figure it out?

It was the handle of an antique coffee mill—one of several we

had stashed away in the barn.

And, of course, I'm always looking for ways to "pretty up" our projects,

so this vintage aluminum butterfly and old furniture

knob rosette were just the ticket.

Here is the result of our day's effort—

with a bit of decluttering to boot—

a whimsical, sweet retreat...

for some very special

little tweet!

Do you notice anything different in this image?

After the Yankee had put all the tools away and had gone inside, I found

this in one of our bins.

And I really want this piece added to the base of our

"found object" birdhouse.

But...

I figured I would let my honey get a good night's sleep first.

Then tomorrow morning...

after he has eaten a hearty breakfast, I'll spring the news that he'll

need to drag all the welding equipment back out...

to finish the project he thought was complete. ; )

Hilton Head Island. You would not believe the incredible

treasures she found! How fitting to find

treasure on an island.

Larissa Hill Designs. It was actually a project for a very good

cause, so be sure to visit to get the whole scoop.

Aren't these the most fabulous vintage pulleys? Ann @ Moonbeams & Fireflies

found these on one of her recent thrifting excursions.

Her son wants to repurpose a couple of them. Maybe Ann will show us

his handiwork when it's complete.

I know many of you are sad to see summer go—not I! Although, if I were like

Maria @ Chic in flip flops and had this to look forward to, I

might change my mind about summer.

The next best thing to touring a show booth in person is doing so via a blog.

Mirror, Mirror

It has been quite a while since I shared one of our transformation

projects—months, as a matter of fact!

So...

since I'm a bit overdue, I'll show you one of the last things we created...

before the garden and our "destash" efforts

consumed our lives. ; )

Have you ever wondered why we use vintage windows in our projects

so often? Well, it could have something to do with the fact that we

have a barn full of them.

That's the same reason we use vintage beadboard so frequently—

well that, and the fact that we love creating things from

salvaged materials.

And old window frames, coupled with vintage beadboard, make such wonderful

mirrors, we never grow weary of creating them.

The pair of vintage windows, that you see above, were two of a group of six

that we discovered in a barn

near our farm.

When the old farmer, who had been storing the windows,

decided it was time to get rid of them, he knew right

where to unload them.

Since two of them had broken panes of glass and missing muntins, they became

prime candidates for a makeover.

By eliminating what glass remained in the windows, we opened up space at the

top for beadboard embellishment.

Cutting the windows down and removing the broken muntins

created the perfect openings for mirrors

The Yankee and I both love cottage style, so the theme for this

particular transformation project was a given.

Several thick coats of cottage-white paint were rolled onto

the frames—to keep all the old chippy paint

where it belonged.

We really like how our mirror duo turned out. And I think

even our farmer friend would approve.

I guess being known by the neighbors as "the folks who

like junk" has its advantages. ; )

let's revisit a handful of the talented time travelers from

last week's party.

Since my Yankee doesn't like prissy, feminine décor, I have to live

vicariously, through those of you who have dreamy, romantic touches

splashed throughout your homes.

René @ Miss Gracie's house has so many beautiful "girly" things throughout her

lovely home, I just have to keep going back to get my feminine fix. ; )

Jessie @ A Cozy Cottage in the City created several pretty vignettes

with these gorgeous purple tulips. I think they look fabulous

in this French zinc pitcher!

I thought this was just the cutest design for a child's room. Then I found out

that Anna @ lasso the moon had done it all freehand...

and I was even more impressed!

Getting a steal of a deal is always so much fun—and when

the makeover turns out this pretty, it makes the deal

even sweeter.

Julie and Sharon @ Vintage Shabby Chicks are always on the lookout

for such trash-to-treasure finds.

Amy @ All Things Home shared the unique sofa table she whipped

together, but it was this fantastic old tool tote that

really got my attention!

An Enduring Love

MOM & DAD'S WEDDING/ANNIVERSARY CAKE

Today is a very special day!

For on this day—fifty-six years ago—my precious parents were wed.

MOM & DAD ON THEIR HONEYMOON IN 1955

They were merely teenagers when they made the decision to become

husband and wife.

With the consent and blessings of their parents, they committed their lives to one

another before a justice of the peace—no fanfare, no elaborate wedding...

just the two of them and two witnesses.

Now while most people consider the fiftieth wedding anniversary the anniversary

to celebrate, last year will most likely be the one most remembered by

my parents and their loved ones.

It all started when my dad decided to surprise my mom with the church wedding

she had never had, as a fifty-fifth anniversary gift. It was to be

a simple affair—

the two of them, their children and their children's families.

Simple...

with five daughters? I don't think so!

THE PASTOR, DAD, DAD'S BROTHER & BEST MAN

So while Mom and Dad were making plans for their simple wedding & anniversary

celebration, other plans were being made, as well.

MOM & DAD EXCHANGING VOWS

Without their knowledge, extended family members, friends, and acquaintances

were being invited to this blessed event. And arrangements were being made for a

catered reception—something neither of them had planned for...

nor expected.

DAD KISSING HIS BRIDE OF 55 YEARS

The ceremony was incredibly sweet, and few eyes were without tears, as we witnessed

yet another testimonial of the enduring love

of my parents.

As I watched my dad take the hand of his bride and walk down the aisle, I was

overcome with emotion.

With five daughters, he certainly was no novice at walking brides

down church aisles.

But...

this was the very first time he had ever walked his own bride down the aisle.

And I was blessed beyond measure to witness it!

I love you, Mom and Dad!

Weathered and Worn

Like a busy little bee...

I've been buzzing around the farm, diligently tending the garden, and, ever so

gradually, clearing out the barns and outbuildings.

I start each day—in the wee hours of the morn—

with a good bit of energy and high hopes that I will finally eliminate the

clutter I've lived with...

way too long.

But..

before the day is done, something begins to happen.

By midday, my energy begins to wane, and the hope that had prodded me toward

the task at hand, now seems but a distant friend.

I feel quite sure the intense heat—that is almost suffocating the South—

is, to a great degree, the master of my misery.

By the end of each day, the energy supply that I'd begun the day with is all but

drained completely.

And like this old vintage tool caddy...

I'm left feeling rather weathered and worn!

Thankfully...

I realize that tomorrow is a new day and with a good night's sleep and

the Lord's blessing...

I will awaken to beautiful blue skies, cheerful chirping songbirds...

and a totally renewed perspective! ; )

This trendy setting actually revolves around a total redo of a once not-so-trendy chair.
But twin sisters, Kahli and Milla of Design Par Deux took this piece
from ho-hum to hip.

What's black and white and pink all over? The answer...this very pretty
tablescape by Judy @ A Southern Belle Dishes on Decor . There's a great
story behind the color combo, by the way.

Aren't these the most fabulous children's antique sewing machines?
